一个世纪前，胡适发出振聋发聩之声：“一国之派遣留学，当以输入新思想为己国造新文明为目的。”在那个群星璀璨的时代，诞生了无数如留英的钱锺书、杨绛，留美的梁思成、林徽因，留日的鲁迅，留德的林语堂等学贯中西、震烁古今的文化大师。百年前风云激变的世界局势，也让中外有识之士都坚定地相信，唯有教育，才是改变一个国家、民族命运的大计。在这样的历史背景下，1902年，金松岑先生带着维新救亡的使命和信念，创办了同川学堂。几乎与此同时，在进化论奠基人达尔文的故乡，英国阿德科特学校的创始人Amy Gough)女士毅然弃商从教，将家族产业全部投入了现代化教育的建设与发展。

历史走到2020年，英国阿德科特学校带着Amy Gough女士的教育理想，跨越了时空，在金松岑先生故居落地生根。两个延绵了千年的文明，两所传承了一个世纪的名校在苏州这片人杰地灵的富土融汇，诞生了苏州阿德科特学校。苏州阿德科特学校的使命，是培养具有传承、创新、独立、优秀品质的学术卓越、人格自由、精神富足、行走世界的中国人。作为这所学校的创校校长，我希望在这所学校中的学子们，能舒展天性，开发潜能，实现个体的全面发展。我也希望，从这所学校走向世界的学子们，秉承世纪阿德科特的品质，延续百年同川公学的文脉，成为有文化教养、社会担当和自由灵魂的世界公民。

I am an enthusiastic school leader with over 30 years of experience at all levels of education, with an emphasis on History. I believe in working with students in understanding ways while challenging their often self-imposed limitations. I focus on students and staff achieving their best no matter their starting point.

Adcote's approach to education resonates strongly with my own beliefs and practice at all levels of education for over 30 years. The qualities at the heart of Adcote (confidence, leadership, engagement, achievement and resilience) are vital to our students as they become citizens of China and the world.
