The Master of Sciences in Human Sciences with an emphasis in healthcare interior design offers students the opportunity to earn a master's degree that can enhance income and marketability. Students learn design guidelines for multiple healthcare environments and also dialogue with nationally recognized healthcare design experts. Students also have the opportunity to engage in research to support evidence-based design.

The healthcare interior design program prepares students for the Center for Health Design's Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) exam and the American Association of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) certification exam. Healthcare interior design students may choose either the 30-hour thesis option or the 36-hour non-thesis option. The curriculum is designed around the body of knowledge outlined by the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers. Courses available for students pursuing the MSHS with a Healthcare Interior Design emphasis include:

Design of Long-term Care/Senior Living Facilities (3 credit hours)

Design of Ambulatory/Outpatient Care Facilities (3 credit hours)

Design of Acute Care Facilities (3 credit hours)

Design of Other Medical Facilities (3 credit hours)

Graduate Design Studio (3 credit hours)

Advanced Practicum/Internship (3 credit hours)

Social Inquiry/Research Methods (3 credit hours)

Data Analysis (3 credit hours)

Advanced Lighting (3 credit hours)

Student-selected courses in area of interest (9 credit hours from Sustainable Factors, Advanced Housing, Aging and Adult Development, education courses for teaching, new course in development with School of Nursing)

为来自中国的学生设计 To apply for a master’s degree program at SFA, you must meet one of the following requirements: Be in your final year of undergraduate work; Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Generally, all applicants must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a 2.8 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
