专业概况

The Master of Fine Arts degree in Spanish Creative Writing requires 48 s.h. of graduate credit taken over four semesters in residence at The University of Iowa. The program also includes an outreach component. Work toward the degree culminates in a creative thesis, completed during the final semester in the program.

Thesis

During the last semester of registration students submit their creative writing thesis. Works of fiction or non-fiction must be of at least 80 pages in length, graphic novels or works of theater at least 60 pages in length, and poetry manuscripts or other brief forms at least 50 pages in length. All theses must include an introduction about the creative experience of the project itself, of at least 1500 words.

Students complete courses in writing, including several workshops, and other relevant course work. They also are required to participate in several outreach workshops in the community and to do a final public reading in the spring semester of their second year. Work toward the degree culminates in a creative thesis.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a Regionally Accredited American College or University, or an equivalent degree from another country; A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00, or the foreign equivalent. English Language Requirements: IELTS score of 7.0, with no subscore less than 6.0; PTE minimum score of 68 with no subscore less than 58; TOEFL scores below 100; a score of 550 or higher on the paper-based (PBT) version of the test, or a score of 81 or higher on the Internet-based version of the test (iBT).
