The Master of Arts program in physical rehabilitation science is granted to students working toward the Doctor of Philosophy in physical rehabilitation science.

The Master of Arts with a major in physical rehabilitation science is awarded to students pursuing knowledge about the underlying science of rehabilitation. The M.A. degree does not prepare students to practice physical therapy. Students often work toward the Doctor of Philosophy in physical rehabilitation science with the goal to promote scholarship in the field.

The mission of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences is to advance the health of humankind by excellence in education, discovering new knowledge, and developing leaders in healthcare and science. The PhD program supports this mission through training of future professors and researchers in rehabilitation science. The program emphasizes, through coursework and participation in research, the development of an individual’s expertise as a researcher in Rehabilitation Science.

What are your career objectives?

My career objectives are to gain the tools to become a successful, autonomous researcher in the area of human motor control and muscle physiology. This involves skills of 1) asking clinically and socially relevant questions, 2) utilizing tools of analysis in motor control and muscle physiology, 3) experimental design and statistics, 4) written communication for peer review, and 5) spoken communication for presentation of ideas to peers and students.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a Regionally Accredited American College or University, or an equivalent degree from another country; A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00, or the foreign equivalent. English Language Requirements: IELTS score of 7.0, with no subscore less than 6.0; PTE minimum score of 68 with no subscore less than 58; TOEFL scores below 100; a score of 550 or higher on the paper-based (PBT) version of the test, or a score of 81 or higher on the Internet-based version of the test (iBT).
