专业概况

The graduate program in general psychology is designed to expose students to some of the main subfields in psychology as well as train students to conduct psychological research and teach psychology courses at the college level. The curriculum may be of interest to individuals seeking to increase their chances of being accepted into psychology doctoral programs and those who would like to earn a master’s degree in psychology as a means of achieving their professional goals.

All students in the program will take coursework in various subfields of psychology as well as receive mentorship and training in psychological research, data analysis, ethics, college teaching and professional development. Furthermore, students will have the option to complete a thesis (i.e., independent research project) or a non-thesis option (i.e., independently teach a college psychology course). Students will consult with the graduate program coordinator to help determine the option that will best prepare the student to meet her/his professional goals.

为来自中国的学生设计 To apply for a master’s degree program at SFA, you must meet one of the following requirements: Be in your final year of undergraduate work; Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Generally, all applicants must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a 2.8 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
