Drawing on expertise from across the social sciences, you'll develop highly sought-after research skills to world-class standards. You can tailor your studies to your own interests from the social sciences, and you'll complete your final independent research project or dissertation in one of our social sciences departments.

The MA is recognised by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), so it's ideal if you are seeking ESRC funding for PhD. This recognition also demonstrates the high quality of the training you'll receive.

You'll be assessed through a variety of methods including ‘open’ essays (where an assignment is prepared in your own time), presentations and a dissertation.

为来自中国的学生设计 For a postgraduate taught course such as a Masters, you would normally need a Bachelors degree from a recognised institution in a relevant subject. The score you will need depends on which university you attended in China and which subject you are applying to. Typically you would need at least the equivalent to a UK upper second class honours degree, however some courses will accept lower second class honours degrees. Actual requirements will vary by course: A score of 80 to 85 per cent is considered comparable to a UK 2:1; A score of 75 to 80 per cent is considered comparable to a UK 2:2. If you're a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability.
